My Super Sick Baby...

After our amazing weekend, Camden woke up on Tuesday with 102.4 temperature. I immediately called in for a sub. I woke up Jay so that he could feed Camden, while I ran to school to get things ready for the sub. In the short hour I was gone, Camden's temp went up to 103.3. Now I was worried. I gave her Tylenol and put a cool rag on her head to try to get it to come down. She was still smiling, but a little clingy...still not acting to sick. About 45 minutes later, I took her temperature again and it was 103.4...I put her in a cool bath to try and get it to drop. She screamed for ten minutes straight! When I got her out, I dressed her and tried to calm her down. She cried for almost an hour...I was FREAKED out now...her temp was still rising and I couldn't get her to relax. Finally after singing, talking, walking, and rocking I got her to fall asleep. I called the doctor and got an appointment for 11:30. They told me if her temp goes any higher to take her to the emergency room, but they thought she was okay right now, especially since she was sleeping. To make a long story short, after a LONG doctor's visit, we found out that Camden has strep;( It took most of today to finally get her temperature to break and start feeling a little better. We are hoping that she makes it through the night without fever.

After leaving the doctor, Camden and I had to drive threw horrible weather. I can't remember being so scared to drive. I couldn't see a thing. I soon found out, that the only thing worse then having a baby at home with a 103 degree temperature...was having a baby at home with a 103 degree temperature and having to chill in the bathtub because of the tornadoes.

I take full responsibility for the screaming in the bathtub. I should have told you to start with the lukewarm water and add the cool. I hope she will forgive Mamaw for being so stupid. Glad she is doing better. Love you.

I'm so glad that Mamaw could help you keep the temp under control - screaming or not - you did GREAT, Mamaw!
It sounds like it was quite a WILD day, but Camden is a tough cookie to take the pain of strep throat. It really hurts!!!!!!!
Keep those tornados away!!
Love you all!

You did a great job! It is always so scary when they are young and can't tell you what is wrong. Camden was a trouper - not surprising! Next time (and there will be plenty!) will be much easier. Sounds like Miss Priss might be a "good" sick baby too!

Love ya!

Yikes!!! Scary stuff. I'm impressed that you did so many things before going to the doctor; that most likely would have been my first move. Glad you all came through it so well.
